Three people had never seen it. Still one of my favorite films. The temperature dropped and wind came up as we were pulled into Harry Caul's thoughts. "He'd kill us if he got the chance." I agree with you Peter on that last scene, it is almost too much of a let-down. Some more of the horrific hotel scenes might of been a better way to end, maybe even with that long shot of Duvall's body laying dead on the bed. There's so many things I love about this film but just to add to your review, would like to point out that both Forrest and Williams are excellent, and it's really great to see Williams so young, kind of wish she had got more roles like this. Also the party scene that takes place in the middle of the movie with the "gang" from the convention including Garfield is so beautifully executed and shot, I find myself feeling like I'm right there in the room. Finally, also would like to mention the nightmare scene which can be so cliche and wrongly done in most movies but this nightmare scene and Hackman's dialog within still sends chills up my spine after repeated viewings. If in the unlikely event you've never seen this film, you don't know what you're missing!Tommy Rosshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02150131602787950689noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8823340817818385797.post-6226560073889128732013-09-03T10:30:04.843-07:002013-09-03T10:30:04.843-07:00The one that always comes to mind is the device du...The one that always comes to mind is the device during a particular dialogue scene of repeating the same dolly-in camera move several times in a row, because it's a camera flourish that calls attention to itself and pulls the viewer out of the story. I also remain unconvinced that the surveillance-camera simulation in the last shot was totally necessary. Clever and memorable, yes, but arguably redundant to a point that's already been made, more effectively, by the scene itself.By Peter Hansonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11385971732301020652noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8823340817818385797.post-3701194927208392392013-09-03T10:09:05.350-07:002013-09-03T10:09:05.350-07:00Love this film and Hackman is the best. Generally a great assessment of Hackman's character in the film. Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
