It's about trying to survive as much as it is about the poor choices of one man, and Lemmon's Harry Stoner can only grasp at straws when he seeks to reclaim the ideals of his youth. I saw this movie only once, but it has reverberated with me for years. Lemmon called the script an "absolute ripper." He was right.Stevehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02419484925045586473noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8823340817818385797.post-77434408402278399862014-03-07T09:36:14.777-08:002014-03-07T09:36:14.777-08:00During principal, they shot the entire film in seq...During principal, they shot the entire film in sequential order and I think given the material it just gelled it together in an amazing way. You really feel like you're spending a day in Harry Stoner's life. The acting in this film straight across the board is some of the best you'll ever see on screen. I just can't say enough about this movie, it's a big personal favorite. Thank you, thank you for getting around to this. (Mild criticism: it's Arthur Miller you're thinking of, he also wrote "The Crucible" -- Henry, he was a whole other kind of writer.) I consider this a must-catch every time to re-airs. I do like the title, though. I recall Harry (Lemmon) looking in a window, at a picture of a tiger, and his reflection is over it, the two are one, as if to say "Hell yeah, save the tiger -- and save me!" A little kudos too to supreme heavy Thayer David as the exacting arsonist. Highly recommended -- and, yes, right on.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14984112497088619496noreply@blogger.com
