Carrie Fisher, 1956-2016

Not just a beloved figure from my generation's childhood, but also a tremendous wit and a remarkable example of how unique individuals can transform adversity into artistry. As she wrote in "Wishful Drinking" -- "If my life wasn't funny it would just be true, and that is unacceptable."

  1. Very Sad but not unexpected given the reports of the incident on the plane. She was pretty but with a tough hard edge and sarcastic wit. Spoiler alert: it was so cool to see her "A new hope" likeness at the end of Rogue One. RIP you will be missed.

  2. I recall Fisher in so many other ways -- propositioning Warren Beatty in "Shampoo," playing "Mary Brown" at the very end of the haphazard "Amazon Women on the Moon," playing an openly bitchy talent agent in "Soapdish," picking up hitchhikers in "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back," even taking on the role of a teed-off sorority den mother in "Sorority Row," an otherwise dreadful movie which I saw because a friend of mine appeared in it. She was a true trouper. Bless her.
